Dreams do come true, don’t they?

All of us have dreams and aspirations, which make us push ourselves harder, overcome the obstacles on the way and fight for the cherished goal. However, not all dreams that we have are the ones we really want to come into reality. I am sure that there is a bunch of people out there who achieved what they longed for but it didn’t bring them awaited satisfaction.

To my mind, there are several reasons why we might be disappointed when something we really wanted do not meet our expectations. Here they are: somebody else’s dreams are mistakenly taken for our own, the dreams we have weren’t thoroughly thought through and, finally, we changed and now those ideas seem foreign to us. Now let’s have a closer look at every idea.

In the technological era of social networks we are bombarded by the stories and news of different renowned people who share their lives in the lap of luxury where everything falls into place. We follow “perfect” people who show us how to maintain ideal marriage, raise prodigies, stay super fit and get a dream job. We blindly believe everything that is shown to us and unconsciously copy the people whose life seems impeccable, although, it may go downhill in the reality. Seeing that opulent car, cutting-edge gadget or super detox weekend at a luxury ecovillage, which let you get away from it all and leave several kilograms behind, you make a wish to have all of these things in your life. It seems to me, if you crave for them, you will get those attributes of perfect life. The question is “Are you gonna be happier when you get them?”

Sometimes our dreams are purely our own aspirations and we think about them day and night, hoping that one day we get a chance to get that well-paid job, meet THE prince charming or go the whole hog and spend a month at Mediterranean seaside. We desire for them so passionately that they come true but, surprisingly, we aren’t as pleased as we’ve expected. Why does this happen? Judging from my own experience, I can say that creating a dream we usually don’t take into account all the conditions, consequences and minor details that those desires entail. As a result, we face unexpected challenges. In order to eliminate negative experience, it’s better to jot your dreams down on paper and add “clarifications” to them as long as they don’t start to happen.

The last but not the least reason for disappointment might be caused by the wrong time and the wrong place for the desired thing. Humans are demanding and edgy to get everything at once what usually leads to great expectations that are not met right away in most cases. Those who learn how to wait will reap the benefits while those who go spare and blame the Universe for neglecting will suffer.

Coming to conclusion, I want to remind everyone (myself as well) that we should have dreams, we should strive for a better life and we should go against the grain sometimes to become happy. So fear not to meticulously formulate your own goals, sweat for them and wait as long as it is needed.
