Can you feel the spirit of Christmas this year?

Well, it’s been a while since I wrote anything in this blog and, frankly speaking, I’ve really missed sharing my thoughts. So, it’s high time I covered the topic of the upcoming celebrations and shared my personal view on how things are going on right now.

Christmas is coming to town in 3 days but I have absolutely no usual Christmas excitement and thrill that is supposed to hit us like a wave weeks before the holy night. It seems to me that I’m not the only one this year who can’t feel those sacred Christmas vibes. First of all, the situation with the pandemic isn’t getting any better and we’re facing even more negative consequences that make us feel lost. The other day, I switched on a TV and by chance heard about a new type of mutated virus that is spreading all over the UK. According to the specialists, this type of virus is even more hazardous for the humanity than COVID-19 which has already left thousands of families without their beloved ones. What is more, scientists predict the third wave of pandemic that is expected in the first part of 2021. As if it’s not tough enough, let’s take into account the economic situation in the whole wide world. The currency rate has skyrocketed and continues doing so. Millions of people have lost any job security and have to live from hand to mouth hoping to provide at least some peanuts for the family. Window shopping is catching on because the prices are so high that people can usually afford to only look at the goods without buying them.

So all the factors, that I have mentioned above have a great psychological impact on us and I guess that is the reason of such a low spirit. I don’t want to feel down in the dumps any longer because life is so beautiful and unpredictable that every day should be full of joy and gratefulness. What can be done to bring in some Christmas mood? Well, I’d go for a lovely Christmas movie (not “Home Alone”, please) and home-made bakery (preferably, accompanied by classic Christmas music). What also makes me happy are my friends who share their warmth and love. Winter activities are also a perfect way to let your hair down and have some fun but due to the current restrictions it’s not that easy to attend crowded skating rinks and parks wherever you want.

As many people say, it always depends on how you look at things. Every cloud has a silver lining, so let’s keep our chins up and enjoy our lives!
